Boquillas del Carmen is a border village located across the Rio Grande from Big Bend National Park. The Boquillas Crossing Port of Entry allows Big Bend visitors to visit Mexico and is one of the more unique experiences you can have at a National Park.
It is a fun day trip to grab some lunch and see the Maderas del Carmen Preserve which is also protected lands much like Big Bend. The economy of Boquillas is dependent on tourism from Big Bend National Park. Families make hand made crafts and sell them as souvenirs to visitors. US currency is accepted so bring small bills and enjoy cute crafts and delicious food.
