Planning a trip to Scotland can feel overwhelming. Between blog posts, TikToks, guidebooks, and Google searches, it’s hard to know what’s actually worth your time — and what you’ll end up skipping once you’re there. That’s exactly why we built our Custom Scotland Map.

Our Custom Scotland Map puts 350+ hand-picked places at your fingertips — so you can spend less time planning and more time enjoying the trip.
Our History With Scotland
Scotland isn’t a place we visited once and left behind. Instead, we’ve returned multiple times over the past decade, and it keeps pulling us back.
We’ve explored Scotland together on several trips. Additionally, Katie has taken a solo journey through the Scottish Highlands. Each visit adds new places to our list. However, no matter how long we stay, it never feels like enough.
That’s part of what we love about Scotland. There’s always another road to drive. Another town to wander. Another viewpoint that makes you pull over and think, okay, this was worth it. As a result, our to-do list keeps growing. So does our connection to the country.
Ultimately, this long-term relationship shaped our Scotland map. It reflects repeat visits, evolving plans, and a genuine love for the place — not a single whirlwind trip.

Why We Created This Scotland Map
We’ve built custom Google Maps for years to plan our travels. It’s how we save anything that catches our interest in one place. This includes food, viewpoints, towns, places to stay, and easy-to-miss stops.
When we’re on the road, we open the map to see what’s nearby. We spot great stops along our route. We also add new discoveries as we go. Because of this, it’s the planning system we rely on everywhere we travel.
However, when we planned our trips to Scotland, we still ran into a problem. We juggled too many tabs. Every article, YouTube video, and social media post suggested something different. As a result, it felt hard to see how everything fit together on the road.
So we used the same system we’ve trusted for years to bring everything into one place. That’s how we built the Scotland map we’re now sharing.

What’s included in the Custom Scotland Map
This is a Google Map with 350+ hand-picked pins, built to make planning easier and travel days smoother. Everything is organized in one place so you can see food, viewpoints, towns, and places to stay at a glance, then adjust plans naturally once you’re on the road. Inside the map, you’ll find:
- Points of Interest: castles, cathedrals, scenic viewpoints
- Accommodations: hotels and Airbnbs
- Food & Drink: restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and coffee spots
- Shopping: gift and souvenir shops
- Destinations: towns and cities across Scotland
- Transportation: train stations, airports, and key transit hubs
Every pin is intentional and based on firsthand experience — not scraped lists or generic recommendations. These are places we visited, researched deeply, or deliberately saved while planning and traveling, chosen because they made our trip better and more enjoyable.

How This Map Helps You Plan a Better Trip
This map isn’t about creating a rigid itinerary. Instead, it makes planning easier and keeps your trip flexible once you’re traveling. Scotland is packed with incredible places. However, it’s easy to miss what’s nearby if you don’t know it exists.
By saving everything in one map, you can quickly see what’s around you. You can spot worthwhile stops along the way. As a result, you make the most of each day without feeling overplanned.
With everything saved in one place, you can:
- Build loose daily plans without over-planning
- Spot food, viewpoints, and towns along your route
- Adjust plans on the fly without stress
- Spend less time researching and more time exploring
It’s the exact way we prefer to travel ourselves — with a plan in place, but plenty of room to explore, adjust, and follow what looks interesting in the moment.

Final Thoughts
We built this map to solve a problem we kept running into ourselves. We had too many tabs open, conflicting advice, and not enough clarity on the road. Over time, this map became one of our favorite planning tools for Scotland. We now rely on it every time we return.
If you want fewer tabs, less stress, and more confidence while traveling, this map supports that. It helps you see what’s around you. It also makes it easier to decide what’s worth stopping for in the moment. As a result, you can experience more without following a rigid plan.
However, planning doesn’t have to be a solo process. If you’d rather talk things through, we’d love to help. You can book time with us to chat about routes, timing, and shaping your trip around your interests.
Ultimately, whether you use the map on its own or alongside a planning call, the goal stays the same. We want to help you spend less time planning and more time enjoying Scotland.
