What is this blog post about?

This blog post is a comprehensive summary of our experience with The Creator Passport course—a program designed to help social media influencers and content creators build sustainable businesses.

We’ll dive into the pros and cons of the course, highlighting what we loved, where we saw room for improvement, and how it impacted our journey as full-time creators. Whether you’re curious about enrolling or simply wondering if it’s the right fit for your goals, this blog will give you all the information you need to decide. We’ll also discuss who we think this course is best suited for.

What is The Creator Passport?

The Creator Passport course (aka TCP) has earned its reputation as a top-tier program for social media influencers and content creators, thanks to its comprehensive resources and supportive community.

Created by Giselle Langley and Stephen Jiroch—better known as @TheLoversPassport across social media—TCP is rooted in the experience of two creators who have mastered the art of content creation.

Over their 4+ years in the industry, Giselle and Stephen have built a loyal fanbase of over 1.5 million followers and collaborated with some of the world’s biggest brands, including Norwegian Cruise Line, JW Marriott, Delta Airlines, Abu Dhabi, Visit California, and many more.

Who are we?

We’re Katie and Joe, former corporate professionals who took a leap of faith to become full-time travel content creators. Joey spent over 10 years as a Director of Social Media Strategy, while Katie built a career in Media Production and photography.

With our combined experience, we thought if anyone could successfully pivot to a full-time creator lifestyle, it would be us. Over the past two years, we’ve navigated the ups and downs of building a creative business, but it wasn’t until we enrolled in The Creator Passport course in August 2024 that we started to see real, measurable progress.

This video highlights the breakthroughs we’ve experienced in the past year and how TCP has played a significant role in our journey.

Now that you know a bit about us and our journey, let’s dive into the details of The Creator Passport course. We’ll break down the pros, the cons, and some additional thoughts based on our experience, giving you a well-rounded view of what the course has to offer. Whether you’re considering enrolling or just curious about its value, this review will help you decide if it’s the right fit for you.

Pros of the The Creator Passport course

Expert Guidance and Accessibility

Giselle Langley and Stephen Jiroch (@TheLoversPassport) bring years of experience and success to The Creator Passport course. Their feedback is personalized, thoughtful, and easily accessible, making you feel truly supported throughout the program. Having direct access to them for questions and reviews is a game-changer for creators at any stage.

Not only did they deliver an Instagram Action Plan and Analysis (part of the bundle we purchased), but they were also incredibly responsive throughout the course. In the very active Facebook group, we could ask as many questions as we could muster, and they typically responded within a day or two.

Beyond the group, we were able to email them and their team (shoutout to Dani and Lotte) for additional support. For instance, when we were preparing to send out a few bigger pitches to brands, we reached out to ensure our pitch was strong and that we were asking for enough money. Their feedback was extremely valuable, and we successfully secured partnerships with those brands—collaborating with them multiple times throughout 2024.

Unmatched Value

The amount of content packed into The Creator Passport course is incredible—50+ hours of pre-recorded material, 15+ hours of live trainings, and constant updates to ensure the information stays relevant. No matter your experience level, there’s always something to learn, making it worth every penny.

That said, the sheer volume of content can feel extremely daunting at first (we dive into this more in the Cons section). You won’t breeze through this course in a few days, and honestly, you shouldn’t try to.

It’s designed to be a deep dive, requiring weeks to complete each module, attend live calls, and fully absorb guest sessions. On top of that, staying engaged with the discussions in the Facebook group adds another layer to the experience.

To help us stay organized, we built a spreadsheet (We are big fans of spreadsheets) to track our progress through the course. With so much content, creating your own system to track completion can make the process much more manageable.

We built a Google Spreadsheet that helps us to track all the lessons inside The Creator Passport

Another standout feature of The Creator Passport course is that it’s constantly evolving. The team frequently adds new modules and updates existing content to keep up with the ever-changing social media landscape. This ensures that students always have access to the latest strategies and tools, making the course a long-term resource rather than a one-time investment.

In addition to the pre-recorded materials, the course offers a wealth of live trainings that go beyond the basics. These sessions cover everything from building a media kit and portfolio, Instagram Reels Editing Workflow, to Blogging with Bucketlist Bri. The live aspect allows for real-time interaction and provides even more depth to the course’s already extensive curriculum.

The course itself is divided into three tracks, each targeting a specific area of content creation:

Track 1: The Manual Method

This track focuses on helping creators go from beginner to pro by learning how to use a camera in manual mode instead of relying on auto.

It’s perfect for those looking to elevate their photography and videography skills.

Our Favorite Modules:

  • Lesson 3.6: Posing
  • Lesson 5.3: Shooting Products
  • Lesson 8.1: Hard Drive Organization
  • Lesson 12.8: Transition Guide

Track 2: Grow Like a Pro

This track dives into the nuts and bolts of social media growth strategies, branding, audience retention, organizational workflows, and creating viral short-form videos.

It’s a comprehensive guide to growing and maintaining a strong presence on social platforms.

Our Favorite Modules:

  • Lesson 1.2: Market Research and Finding Your Gap in the market (SWOT)
  • Lesson 1.5: Finding Your Brand Pillars and Creating Your Content Pillars
  • Lesson 2.10: Growth Strategies and Branding Case Studies
  • Lesson 6.5: Testing Viral Video Variations (Edit 3 Reels at Once)
  • Lesson 11.2: Dealing with Hate Comments, Trolls, and Bullies
  • Lesson 11.3: Comparison Struggles

Track 3: The Six-Figure Fast Track

This track is all about setting the foundations for a successful social media business, from pricing and pitching to contracts and building long-term brand relationships.

It’s invaluable for creators serious about turning their passion into a sustainable career.

Our Favorite Modules:

  • Lesson 1.3: How to Make Money WITHOUT Followers (UGC Content Creation & Professional Product Photos/Videos)
  • Lesson 1.9: Launching Your Own Digital Products
  • Lesson 2.5: Packaging & Upselling Your Services
  • Lesson 6.1: Tourism Board Starter Pack: Basics & Pitching

While it’s a lot to manage, the pace is ultimately up to you. The Creator Passport course isn’t about rushing through—it’s about building a solid foundation for your business and growing in a sustainable way.

With the continuous updates, new content, and engaging live trainings, the course remains a valuable and relevant resource over time. If you approach it with patience and focus, the long-term value is well worth the time investment.

We’ve been able to conquer our imposter syndrome and build relationships with massive brands like Arby’s, Tums, Ram Trucks, Cotopaxi, MELIN, and more!

Boosts Confidence and Professionalism

One of the most valuable takeaways is the confidence this course builds. We learned to negotiate smarter deals, ask for higher rates, and push back on free or gifted collaborations.

As creators, we’ve struggled with comparison and imposter syndrome—even though we’ve worked in this industry in roundabout ways for years. Launching our own brand, content, website, and more has taken an incredible amount of mental strength.

The Creator Passport course taught us that we were indeed on the right path, giving us the tools and reassurance we needed to push through those struggles and take our business to the next level.

Up-to-Date and Practical Knowledge

Social media evolves quickly, and TCP stays ahead of the curve. The strategies and techniques taught in the course are regularly updated to reflect platform changes and new trends, making it a resource you can rely on long after you complete it.

A great example of this is when ManyChat became a popular tool for driving traffic off Instagram to external platforms like blogs or YouTube videos.

Giselle and Stephen quickly created a detailed lesson on how to set up and optimize ManyChat workflows to engage followers and encourage meaningful actions.

This proactive approach ensured that The Creator Passport course students had a clear advantage in leveraging new tools while they were still gaining traction. It’s this commitment to staying ahead of trends that makes the course so valuable.

Supportive Community

In addition to the direct access to G&S, the TCP Facebook group is a treasure trove of shared experiences, ideas, and tips from like-minded creators. While it can feel overwhelming at times, the community provides a solid network for growth and inspiration.

Beyond the main group, The Creator Passport also set up smaller mini-groups (shoutout to the Campfire Crew!) where like-minded and themed creators can connect on a deeper level. These groups became a space to chat through challenges, celebrate wins, and offer support in a more intimate setting. We talk to our group of creators multiple times a week, and it’s been an incredible resource for accountability, brainstorming, and encouragement.

Focus on Business and Growth

The course goes beyond content creation to teach the business side of being a creator, from optimizing contracts to understanding the financial aspects of running a creative business. This holistic approach ensures you’re not just making content but building a sustainable career.

For us, this has been one of the most impactful aspects of the course. As the owners of a UGC company that has worked with some major brands, the lessons on business strategy have been invaluable.

The course has helped us identify opportunities to add additional revenue streams to projects, refine our workflows for greater efficiency, and approach negotiations with a sharper understanding of value. It’s given us the tools to operate like a true business, not just as creators, and that shift has made a noticeable difference in our growth and success.

Cons of the The Creator Passport course

While The Creator Passport course has many incredible strengths that make it a valuable resource for content creators, no program is without its challenges.

As much as we gained from the course, there were a few areas where we felt it could improve or better meet the needs of its students. From the sheer volume of information to some mixed experiences with specific elements of the program, here’s a look at the aspects we found less favorable.

Overwhelming Amount of Content

The Creator Passport course offers a massive amount of information, which can feel overwhelming at times. While this is definitely a pro (and we discussed it in the Pros section), it’s also daunting to keep on top of everything.

Between the courses, live trainings, guest trainings, and everything else, it’s easy to feel like you’re drowning in content. Be prepared to either dedicate a large portion of your life to staying on top of the course or, like us, risk feeling left behind at times.

To combat this, we created a spreadsheet to track our progress, which helped, but the sheer volume may still be daunting for some.

Communication Overload in the Facebook Group

While the TCP Facebook group is an active and supportive community, the sheer volume of posts and updates can make it difficult to keep up. Most updates, announcements, and discussions happen there, which is great for engagement but challenging if you’re traveling, busy, or simply trying to stay organized as Facebook might not inform you that there has been an update to a post you’re following inside the group.

On top of that, repetitive questions from members can clutter the feed, making it hard to find new or relevant information. A more centralized system, such as a glossary, FAQ, or even a weekly 30-minute Q&A session, would help streamline communication and make it easier to navigate this valuable resource.

Giselle and Stephen have addressed that Facebook may not be the perfect solution and are looking into alternative options.

Results from our September Reels Challenge (told you we loved spreadsheets)

Mixed Results from the Reels Challenge

The 30-day Reels Challenge in September was a disappointment for us. We took this month as a serious challenge to grow our account and committed to posting three times a day for the entire month.

To make it happen, we put almost every other platform on the back burner, dedicating an immense amount of time and energy to creating 90+ posts. Unfortunately, the results were pretty awful.

We jumped on a trend and had AMAZING results – 19.5 Million Views!

To put it into perspective, we had a single video that went viral in August (you might have seen it) that outperformed all 90 posts combined. While we know we can’t rely on a post to go viral often, it was frustrating to see one piece of content that took five minutes to make be more impactful than the 90 posts we spent over 60 hours creating.

On top of that, we later heard multiple larger influencers, including G&S, mention that September is typically a tough month for growth. Coupled with the looming political elections and the flood of ads, it felt like we were at a disadvantage from the start. We can’t help but wish the challenge had been scheduled for November or December, where we could have made better use of the knowledge we gained from the course.

Unrealistic Growth Expectations

One of our frustrations was the emphasis on growth metrics that didn’t align with our experience. Statements like “you should be growing 10-40k followers a month” felt out of reach for many in the course.

People who started fresh with the course (at 0 followers) statistically saw the most percentage growth, and those who already had 150k+ followers gained the most total followers. However, this left the largest portion of the course participants—those in the 5k-25k range—scratching our heads, as we weren’t seeing the growth that was repeatedly emphasized.

It became quite frustrating, especially since this was a constant selling point of the course. While the strategies and tools were helpful, none of us in this middle range were achieving the kind of growth that was promised.

It’s also important to understand that even if you do everything perfectly, you can still be hit by the ever-changing algorithm, which doesn’t guarantee success no matter how hard you try.

There’s also a lot of luck and other factors largely out of our control that play a role in growth -these realities can add to the frustration when you are putting in the work, but not seeing massive growth.

There is no denying that G&S have mastered the art of short form videos – learning how to make a reel is more important than just jumping onto a trend

While the provided hooks and trending audio suggestions were helpful, the result was a wave of similar content from course participants. One of the benefits of joining the course was that Stephen delivered trending audios and content ideas weekly, which was super informative and a great way to stay ahead of trends. However, it eventually reached a point where everyone in our cohort was posting essentially the same content at the same time.

While this strategy has its advantages, it also highlighted the importance of learning how to independently identify trending audios and create unique, impactful reels—which the course absolutely teaches. In the long run, mastering these skills is far more valuable than simply relying on pre-made suggestions, as it allows creators to stand out in a crowded space.

Broad Coverage, but Lacking Depth in Some Areas

The course provides a wide range of information, which is fantastic for those just stepping into the world of content creation. Some tracks, like Track 1 – The Manual Method, provide a much deeper dive into specific skills, such as mastering manual photography and videography. However, for more experienced creators, some topics feel too surface-level and could benefit from deeper exploration.

Platform-Specific Learning

While the course covers a variety of topics, some lessons are tailored to specific platforms or tools, which may not align with every creator’s workflow. For instance, in Track 1 – Module 14 (Video Editing), almost everything is taught using Final Cut Pro.

While this isn’t a major issue for us, as we’re experienced with video editing and could adapt the teachings to our workflow in Premiere Pro CC, it’s something worth noting for others. If you’re not using the same tools as the instructors, you might need to do some extra work to translate the techniques to your platform of choice.

Beyond the Pros and Cons, Additional Thoughts

We’ve covered the pros and cons of The Creator Passport course, but there are a few aspects that don’t neatly fit into either category. These are things that stood out to us during our experience—elements of the program or surrounding community that we feel are worth mentioning. Whether they’re unique takeaways, observations, or just things we’ve appreciated along the way, here’s a look at our additional thoughts on TCP.

The Colorado Meetup

While we enjoyed the Colorado meetup (especially since it was a 10-minute drive from our home), its casual nature might have disappointed those who traveled far for the event. A more structured retreat with workshops, presentations, or creative activities would add significant value to such meetups.

Luck Plays a Role

Even with the course, success as an influencer isn’t guaranteed. The unpredictable nature of social media algorithms means there’s always an element of luck involved. That said, the skills learned in TCP are transferable, especially for those interested in User-Generated Content (UGC).

Free webinars Are worth your time

There’s real value in all of The Creator Passport’s free webinars—so much so that we still attend them even after completing the course.

These sessions are packed with actionable insights and often offer a fresh perspective on key topics. For example, their upcoming webinar in January 2025, titled 3K in 3 Months,” promises to be another opportunity to learn strategies that could shift how you approach certain aspects of your creator business.

You never know when a single piece of advice might completely change the way you think about or execute your work.

In Summary, is The Creator Passport course right for you?

The Creator Passport is undeniably a significant investment, both in terms of money and time. While the course is technically “self-paced,” getting the most out of it requires a serious commitment. To truly benefit, you’ll need to stay up to date with the live learning sessions, participate in the Facebook Group discussions, and dedicate time to implementing what you’ve learned. The depth and breadth of content are remarkable, but the course is best suited for those ready to dive in fully.

We were initially hesitant about the cost and what it might offer for creators at our stage, but we ultimately decided to enroll after a 1:1 call with Giselle and Stephen. That conversation gave us the encouragement we needed to feel like we were on the right track and that TCP could help us level up. While not every aspect of the course was a perfect fit, many lessons have been fantastic additions to our workflow, helping us grow and refine our approach to content creation and the business side of being creators.

If you’re prepared for the time commitment and ready to make an investment in your creator career, The Creator Passport can be an invaluable tool for growth and success.

If we could travel back in time a few months to before we signed up for the course, would we do it again? Absolutely. The knowledge, confidence, and community we’ve gained through TCP have been worth the investment. For us, it wasn’t just a course—it was a transformative step forward in our creator journey.
